Changing your game (Egg Changer)
What this is about
ComingWant soon.to switch your server to a different game, or a different version of the
same game (for example Minecraft Paper → Fabric), without ordering a new
server? The Egg Changer does that. In the panel each game or server type is
called an egg.
You'll find it as the Egg Changer card at the bottom of the Settings tab.

Which games can I switch to?
The Egg list only shows what your current server can switch to. For
example, a Vintage Story server can currently switch to:
Vintage Story variants
Minecraft: Vanilla, Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Sponge, BungeeCord, and the modpack installer
Terraria, Palworld, Project Zomboid and Valheim
If the list says "No eggs available to switch to.", there's nothing set up
for your current game. Open a ticket and we'll see what we can do.
Your plan's RAM, CPU and disk stay the same whatever you switch to. Some games need more resources than others, so check your plan is big enough. See Upgrade/Downgrading Servers.
Switching
Take a backup of anything you want to keep. See Backups.
Stop the server.
In the Egg Changer card, choose the new game in Egg and click Update.
A Change Egg window opens with three switches:

Switch
What it does
Update Startup Command
Uses the new game's launch command. Always on.
Reinstall Server
Runs the new game's installer to download its files. Leave it on unless you're switching between closely related types and have the files already. It's forced on for some games.
Delete all files…
Wipes your server before installing the new game.
Click Update. If you chose to reinstall, you're taken to the console to watch the install.
Should I delete all files?
Switching to a completely different game (e.g. Vintage Story → Valheim): yes, usually. The old game's files and world just take up space and can confuse the new game. Back up first!
Switching between versions of the same game (e.g. Minecraft Paper → Purpur): no. Keep your files so your world carries over.
Deleting files cannot be undone. The button turns red as a reminder.
After switching
Check the Startup tab for the new game's settings. See Startup tab.
Your address and port stay the same.
Subdomains are only available for Minecraft and Vintage Story. See Subdomains.
